Quel jeu magnétique offrir à un enfant — guide cadeau Ma Cabane à Rêves

What magnetic game should I buy? Our gift guide by child personality

Giving a magnetic game is a good idea. But which one? (That's often where the problem lies.)

We have 22 different magnetic games at Ma Cabane à Rêves. All for ages 3 and up, all made in France, all at €29. So the question isn't the budget — it's the theme. And the theme depends on the child.

Here's our straightforward guide.

For the child who loves animals (and there are many)

This is the easiest category. You already know what they like — they remind you every time they see an animal in the street, in a book, in a cartoon.

  • They're fascinated by the forest and its inhabitants → Forest Animals (fox, squirrel, deer, owl — it's all there)
  • They love the sea → Ocean Animals (whale, octopus, ray, dolphin)
  • They're obsessed with penguins → Ice Floe Animals (and honestly, who isn't?)
  • They're a savannah fan → Jungle Animals
  • Dinosaurs are THE passion → Dinosaurs (T-Rex included, obviously)

Our advice: if you're torn between two animal themes, go for the Ice Floe. It's consistently our bestseller.

For the naturally curious child

Not necessarily an animal fan in the strict sense, but captivated by living things, by "why" questions, by budding science.

  • The Garden — flowers, insects, small animals hidden in the grass. With a bilingual picture dictionary to learn names in French and English.
  • The Farm — farm animals, their young, their environment. A classic that never gets old.
  • The Butterfly Life Cycle — from egg to butterfly, each stage of the transformation. Educational without being academic. (We've seen it captivate children from 4 to 9 years old.)

For the child who loves to learn — without it feeling like school

Parents love this category. Kids do too, provided they don't know it's educational.

  • Magnetic Alphabet — 104 capital letters + illustrated bilingual alphabet. To play with letters, form words, or just stick their name on the fridge.
  • Large Capital Letters — to start gently, with large, easy-to-grasp pieces.
  • Magnetic Numbers — count, add, invent calculations. Or just stack the numbers. Both are valid.
  • Anatomy — the human body, organs, skeleton. From 7 years old. Perfect for curious children who want to know everything about how it works inside. (Prepare for questions.)
  • Shapes & Tangram — explore colors, geometries, assemblies. For budding little architects.

For the creative, the dreamer, the storyteller

These games have no rules. No right answer. Just a magnetic surface and imagination.

  • Dreamland — a dreamy and colorful universe to invent endless stories.
  • Wax Dolls — dolls with outfits inspired by African fabrics. To dress, undress, mix and match looks. (Inspired by our time in Abidjan — and it shows.)
  • Kimono Dolls — same principle, Japanese universe. Both together make a journey.
  • Cupcake — decorate magnetic cakes. Simple, joyful, infinite.
  • Mini Dots World — a miniature and poetic universe for children who love small details.

For the child who loves to get dressed up, play dress-up, choose their outfits

Only one choice: I Dress Up. Dress a little mouse according to the weather, seasons, and current desires. It's repetitive. That's exactly why children love it.

For future professionals (from 4 years old)

Two games to explore professions, invent roles, play "when I grow up."

  • Professions — 13 professions to explore. Firefighter, doctor, chef, astronaut… Children love to take on roles.
  • Creative Professions — artist, photographer, stylist… For children who see the world differently.

To give without going wrong (the wild card)

You don't know the child well. Or you want a gift that's guaranteed to please. Our favorite duo: I Dress Up + Professions. One for dressing, undressing, re-choosing — and with an older child, for discussing weather, seasons, learning to dress according to the outdoor temperature. The other to explore professions, invent stories, play "when I grow up." Two complementary universes, zero risk. This is the gift to give when you want to make sure it's a hit.

In summary
